The Role

The Teacher will deliver high-quality teaching of English language and literature to students. The role
requires building strong analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills while fostering a lifelong
love of literature and language. The teacher will prepare students with academic rigour, while also nurturing
creativity, intellectual curiosity, and personal growth. In keeping with Bedford’s ethos, the teacher will
contribute fully to the academic, co-curricular life of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum and Teaching

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in English language and literature in line with Cambridge
    curriculum standards and departmental schemes of work.
  • Develop pupils’ skills in reading, comprehension, analytical writing, critical interpretation, and oral
    communication.
  • Use varied teaching strategies, including inquiry-based learning, debate, drama, creative writing, and
    digital tools.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment with high expectations for achievement and behaviour.

Leadership and Faculty Development

  • Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum review, and resource development.
  • Actively participate in departmental and cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Share best practice, support peer observation, and engage in professional development.
  • Mentor junior teachers or teaching assistants when required.
  • Uphold and promote Bedford School Mohali’s standards of academic excellence.

Assessment and Academic Performance

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments in line with Cambridge requirements.

Co-Curricular and Enrichment Activities

  • Organise and lead English-related enrichment programmes such as debating societies, theatre
    productions, poetry readings, essay competitions, journalism, and creative writing workshops.
  • Support pupils’ participation in national and international competitions.
  • Arrange enrichment opportunities such as author visits, literary festivals.
  • Contribute actively to the wider co-curricular life of the school, in keeping with Bedford’s holistic
    education philosophy.

Community and Parental Engagement

  • Communicate effectively with parents through reports, meetings, and informal channels about pupil
    progress and development.
  • Conduct literacy workshops, exhibitions, and presentations to involve parents in the learning process.
  • Represent the English Department at open days, school events, and community programmes.
  • Collaborate with local cultural and literary organisations to enhance student experiences.
Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, English Literature, or Education (Master’s preferred).
  • Recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Training in Cambridge IGCSE/A Level pedagogy or inquiry-based learning desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum 4-7 years of teaching English at the secondary/senior secondary level.
  • Experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE and/or A Level English courses strongly preferred.
  • Evidence of successful student outcomes in external examinations.
  • Proven record of leading or contributing to literary and co-curricular initiatives.
  • Experience in independent or international school settings is an advantage.

The Role

The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for managing the admissions journey from initial enquiry through enrolment, ensuring a seamless, professional, and welcoming experience for prospective families. The role involves coordinating admissions processes, maintaining accurate records, organising school visits and assessments, and working closely with academic and administrative teams to support student recruitment and retention.

Admissions and Enrolment

  • Manage enquiries from prospective parents through phone, email, website, and walk-ins in a professional and timely manner.
  • Guide prospective families through the admissions process, providing accurate information regarding programmes, curriculum, fees, policies, and school life.
  • Coordinate student applications, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurately maintained.
  • Schedule and coordinate school tours, admissions interviews, assessments, and interactions with school leadership.
  • Support the admissions decision process and communicate outcomes promptly to families.
  • Facilitate student enrolment, ensuring completion of all required documentation before admission.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with prospective and existing families throughout the admissions journey.
  • Respond effectively to parent enquiries while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Support parent engagement initiatives and represent the school with professionalism and warmth.
  • Maintain regular communication with applicants regarding admissions progress and key deadlines.

Admissions Administration

Marketing and School Promotion

  • Work closely with the Marketing team to support lead generation and admissions campaigns.
  • Assist in maintaining admissions content across digital and print platforms.

  • Coordinate with school leadership regarding admissions planning and enrolment targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

Experience
