Overview

At Bedford School Mohali, boarding is personal and steady. We invest time in getting to know your daughter and we maintain close communication with you. With attentive caregivers and mentors who notice both the great days and the hard ones, she has the security to explore new interests and grow with confidence. Our boarding houses offer more than just a place to stay; they foster independence and strong friendships.

Our residential facilities are built around the values of comfort, safety and sisterhood. Boarding houses are welcoming and age-appropriate — providing the space girls need to grow independently while staying deeply connected to a supportive community.

  • Girls are housed in two or three-person rooms, offering the right balance between privacy and companionship.
  • Common rooms for socialising, games and quiet downtime.
  • Each room is fully furnished with study desks, storage and controlled heating, ventillation and air conditioned (HVAC).
  • Shared dining areas, tea stations and reflection spaces.
  • House parents and residential staff live on-site, providing round-the-clock care and guidance.
  • Designated study spaces.
  • Secure entry, 24/7 supervision and regular wellness check-ins ensure peace of mind for families.

Families can choose between full and flexi-boarding, and we’ll help you decide which best fits her needs and your routine.

Flexi-Boarding

For families seeking a balance, Flexi Boarding offers the best of both worlds: a boarding school experience during the week and family time every other weekend.

How it works:

  • Take part in academic lessons, evening prep, sports, co-curricular activities and social events with friends.
  • Return home on alternate weekends for rest and time with the family.
  • On working Saturdays (teaching/fixtures/rehearsals), attendance is compulsory.
  • For non-working Saturdays, home leave may begin on Friday after activities at 4.00 pm.
  • When Saturday is a working day, home leave can begin after school commitments, which is likely to be between 1.30 pm and 6.00 pm, depending on the day.
  • Standard return time is on a Sunday between 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm or by Monday at 07.45 am.
  • Safeguarding applies: only pre-authorised adults may collect; photo ID is checked at the House; sign-out/sign-in is required on departure and return.

Day Boarding

Day Boarding is ideal for families who want their pupils to benefit from the structure, support, and breadth of boarding life while returning home each evening.

How it works:

  • Day boarders follow the full school timetable, including morning assembly, academic lessons, co-curricular activities and supervised evening prep.
  • They remain on campus after classes for sports, clubs, enrichment sessions and quiet study time with friends.
  • Nutritious lunches and evening snacks are provided in shared dining spaces.
  • Supervised homework sessions build steady academic habits and reduce pressure at home.
  • Designated day-boarding areas offer spaces for reading, social time and calm unwinding before departure.
  • Standard departure time is after evening prep, between 6.00 pm and 6.30 pm, with supervised handover at the designated pick-up zone.
  • Only pre-authorised adults may collect pupils, with photo ID verified at the gate and a compulsory sign-out before departure.

Full Boarding

Full Boarding is perfect for families who want their daughters to experience the complete boarding school experience—living, learning and growing on campus throughout the term.

How it works:

  • Girls live in our boarding houses during term time and return home during holidays and designated breaks.
  • They are immersed in the full rhythm of school life, building strong academic foundations, leadership skills and lifelong friendships.
  • A structured outings system—with parent consent and sign-out; We offer day outings, night outings, festival leaves and long-weekend (exeat/home-leave) options, so she stays connected to family and community while enjoying campus life.
  • Full Boarding is the richest, most immersive way to experience Bedford School Mohali—steady, supported, and fully engaged in school life.

Pastoral Care

Through pastoral care at Bedford School Mohali, every girl is guided by a dedicated staff and enriched by traditions. Here, community, membership, traditions and daily rhythm build confident leaders of tomorrow.

A House That Feels Like Home

Each girl belongs to a boarding house with its own colours, crest, and living traditions. Led by a dedicated House Parent and team who know her well, the house becomes her anchor—daily check-ins, cross-year mentoring and older girls looking out for younger ones build habits of care and pride in the badge.

House spirit comes alive in both the small and big moments: tea-time chatter and birthday shout-outs; house assemblies, suppers and service projects; the friendly rivalry of inter-house competitions in sports, music, drama and debate.

Girls earn points for effort, kindness and leadership; captains rally their teams; cups are celebrated together. In that shared identity, they learn to back one another and grow into leaders who carry their house colours with pride.

A Thoughtful Daily Rhythm

A Thoughtful Daily Rhythm

Mornings begin with a brief assembly that sets the tone and key notices for the day, followed by timetabled lessons. Regular breaks and nutritionist-planned meals keep pupils well-fuelled throughout.

Afternoons are devoted to co-curricular breadth—sport, arts, clubs, service and creative exploration. After a short rest, evening prep is supervised by staff on duty to support steady academic progress.

Evenings offer more autonomy, allowing girls to engage in quiet conversations, reading, board games or light activities. After dinner, pupils return to their houses for roll call and a calm wind-down before the designated lights-out.

This considered balance of structure and choice builds good habits and a sense of ease.

Weekends and Traditions

Weekends and Traditions

Weekends are special, focusing on community, celebration and fun. Whether it’s a festival gathering, movie night, house competition or informal games in the common room, weekends strengthen bonds and create lasting memories.

Beyond campus, staff-led field trips extend learning into the real world. Students will experience museums and theatres, sports fixtures, nature and adventure days, university and industry visits, and service-learning projects. Trips are offered regularly and are open to both Full and Flexi boarders (for Flexi pupils, trips are available on weekends when they are in residence).

Tradition sits comfortably alongside the contemporary: we honour the best of British boarding customs while celebrating Indian festivals and family culture, shaping routines that feel both familiar and new.

Growing Through Community

Growing Through Community

Living with peers from diverse backgrounds teaches empathy, communication, and resilience. Pupils learn to navigate differences, form lasting friendships, and take responsibility for themselves and for one another.

Over time, the boarding house becomes more than just a place to stay. It becomes a foundation for confidence, leadership, and lifelong connection.
