Celebrating 100 Days of Bedford School Mohali: Growing Together Stronger
A hundred days ago, our founding pupils walked into Bedford School Mohali, ready to begin a new chapter. On 17 October 2026, they became part of another memorable first as our school celebrated its 100-day milestone.
Held at The Mann Theatre on our campus in Sector 84, Mohali, the celebration brought together distinguished guests, leadership, faculty, parents, and pupils.
From performances by our girls to addresses by esteemed officials, the occasion reflected the progress of our young school community and the vision that brought us together.
For us, celebrating 100 days was an opportunity to appreciate these beginnings and look forward to everything still to come.
Our Pupils Took Centre Stage at The Mann Theatre

The 100-day celebration came alive through performances by our pupils, who took to the stage at The Mann Theatre.
It was a special occasion for our founding girls to participate in a school milestone before an audience that included their families, teachers and distinguished guests.
Their involvement reflected an important part of our educational approach: learning extends beyond classroom lessons.
We encourage girls to develop their confidence through experiences such as:
- Performing arts: Exploring creativity and expressing ideas before an audience.
- Public speaking: Learning to communicate with clarity and confidence.
- Collaborative activities: Working with others and contributing to shared goals.
- School events: Participating in occasions that build a sense of belonging.
These opportunities are especially meaningful during a school’s founding year, when every shared experience helps establish its identity.
Distinguished Guests Marked a Proud Milestone

The celebration was made particularly memorable by the presence of distinguished educational leaders and dignitaries.
We were honoured to welcome:
- Mr Michael Sloan, Headmaster, Bedford School (UK)
- Mr Ian Silk, Headmaster, Bedford Prep School (UK)
- Mr Iwan Lloyd, International Development Director, Bedford School (UK)
- Miss Alba Smeriglio, British Deputy High Commissioner in Chandigarh
- Mr Andy Macfarlane, Director of Finance and Operations, Bedford School (UK)
- Mr Devinder Singh Mann, Chairman, Doon International Educational Society
- Mr H. S. Mann, Director, Doon International School
- Mr Charanjeet Singh Mann and Mrs Simrita Singh Mann, Honourable Directors of Bedford School Mohali
- Miss Naomi Atkins, Founding Principal, Bedford School Mohali
- Miss Julie Marie Wickham, Head of Pre-Prep and Prep, Bedford School Mohali
The programme also featured addresses by officials, bringing attention to the significance of the school’s founding journey and the shared commitment behind its establishment.
The presence of our Bedford School (UK) leadership team was especially meaningful. It reinforced the relationship between our Mohali campus and the British institution whose educational heritage forms an important part of our identity.
We are grateful to our guests for joining our school community on this occasion.
One Hundred Days Into Our Founding Journey

When we welcomed our first pupils, we began an exciting chapter in girls’ education. That first day brought families, faculty, and pupils together for the beginning of a new school community. Our first-day celebration captures those early moments.
One hundred days later, we had an opportunity to reflect on the foundations being established.
Bedford School Mohali was founded through a partnership between Bedford School UK, established in 1552, and the Doon International Educational Society. As the first all-girls’ British international school in India, we bring this educational heritage into a setting that also values Indian culture and family connections.
During the milestone week, our Bedford School (UK) leadership team visited classrooms, engaged with pupils and reviewed aspects of campus safety and pastoral boarding arrangements.
Their involvement reflects the continuing collaboration that supports our school’s development.
What Our First 100 Days Mean for Girls’ Education
A milestone celebration is an opportunity to recognise what a school stands for and how its educational vision is taking shape.
At Bedford School Mohali, we aim to give every girl opportunities to develop academically while discovering her interests and building confidence.
Our approach brings together several important elements:
- Cambridge International education: Providing internationally recognised academic pathways that encourage enquiry and understanding.
- An all-girls learning environment: Encouraging girls to participate, share ideas and take on responsibilities.
- Sport and creative learning: Offering opportunities to explore interests beyond academic subjects.
- Pastoral care: Supporting girls’ wellbeing through dedicated staff and individual guidance.
- Boarding opportunities: Providing Full Boarding, Flexi-Boarding and Day Boarding arrangements, with residential boarding available from Year 3 onwards.
For parents searching for the best boarding school for girls in India, the decision often goes beyond academic qualifications. They want a school where their daughters feel confident to participate, receive individual attention, and have opportunities to discover their strengths. These priorities are central to the environment we are building at Bedford School Mohali.
Families can explore our boarding facilities and pastoral provision to understand this experience in greater detail.
Growing Together, With Many Milestones Ahead

Our first 100 days have given us much to appreciate, from the beginnings of new friendships to the growing sense of community among our pupils, families and faculty.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our distinguished guests, Bedford School UK leadership, dedicated staff and parents for making this milestone memorable.
Most importantly, we thank our founding pupils, whose curiosity and enthusiasm give meaning to our work.
The journey has only just begun. We look forward to creating many more opportunities for our girls to learn, participate, and flourish.
