With great pride, we mark a momentous occasion in the history of Bedford School Mohali: the inauguration of the Bedford Arena. On 28th April 2026, we celebrated the opening as a testament to our unwavering dedication towards offering a holistic learning experience for girls.

The Inaugural Ceremony: A Celebration of Community and Commitment

The inauguration of the Bedford Arena was an event of great significance. It was attended by esteemed dignitaries and members of the Bedford School community. It was a great privilege to have Ms Alba Smeriglio, British Deputy High Commissioner, Chandigarh, to grace the event with her presence and underscore the strong ties between Bedford School Mohali and the United Kingdom.

The ceremony began with a ribbon-cutting by Ms Naomi Atkins, our founding principal. She delivered her speech to the audience by explaining the school’s founding principles, which establish the commitment to provide a balanced education that prepares young women for future challenges. Her passionate words reflected our school’s core values, which extend beyond academic achievements to character development, leadership training, and personal development.

Our leadership team shared their perspective on the essential role that sports play in girls’ lives. The addresses highlighted that physical activity serves as a fundamental component of complete educational development for girls because it helps them build teamwork skills, discipline abilities and resilience capacity. The Bedford Arena provides students with essential life skills training facilities, which help them achieve academic and personal success.

A VIP Visit at the Inauguration of the Bedford Arena

We were privileged to have Ms Alba Smeriglio, the British Deputy High Commissioner in Chandigarh, who is a well-known supporter of international education initiatives. As an eminent British diplomat, her attendance at the inauguration of the Bedford Arena was a perfect symbol of the international community’s faith in the importance of educating young girls both academically and culturally.

During her visit, she got to witness our pupils engaging in various activities such as swimming, squash, gymnastics, table tennis, and a race through an obstacle course. She was very moved by their energy and commitment, which, in turn, strengthened our pledge to comprehensive education.

Her esteemed involvement brought to the fore the worldwide importance of British international schools in India and how crucial these schools are in shaping future ​‍​‌‍​‍‌leaders.

A Walkthrough of Bedford School Mohali

After the inaugural ceremony, Ms Smeriglio, along with our directors, Mr Charanjeet Singh Mann and Mrs Simrita Singh Mann, and principal, Ms Naomi Atkins, took a tour of the campus. This provided a detailed insight into the modern infrastructure that characterises our school, such as our state-of-the-art science labs, creative arts and crafts spaces, the Bedford Arena, and our boarding house, the Woodland ​‍​‌‍​‍‌Residence.

Our boarding house has outstanding amenities that are intended to give our students a cosy, encouraging environment. The boarding house has large rooms, peaceful study areas, and communal areas that promote both academic concentration and community development.
